in the mansions bright and blessed

这是一首歌颂进入天国之乐的诗歌。词作者休伊特夫人经常到美国新泽西州欧欣格罗夫聚会。一天，她在那里遇见女作曲家威尔逊。两人久别重逢，欣喜无比，促膝交谈，亲密无间，于是就产生了这首《欢聚天家》。

词作者休伊特是美国卫理公会一位牧师的妻子。早年她以优异的成绩毕业于美国费城女子师范学校，曾作为毕业生的代表在毕业典礼上致辞。后担任中学教师多年，热心教会主日学和社会的福利事业。休伊特夫人写过许多赞美诗，均由福音派作曲家为之谱曲。

曲作者艾米莉.威尔逊的父亲是爱尔兰人，母亲是英国人。她是一位富有音乐和戏剧才华的女子，曾对教会作出很大的贡献。她1887年与美国费城卫理公会的牧师约翰. 威尔逊结婚，成为他传福音的得力助手。
